Tamako Bike Path Cherry Blossoms

0

There are many places to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo, but the most popular ones are often so crowded that it detracts from the experience. Tamako Bike Path is a great alternative if you’re looking for a more relaxed spot. The bike path winds through a tunnel of cherry blossom trees that culminates in the beautiful Tama Lake.

Tamako Bike Path is a 10km paved road that unfolds through the suburbs of Tokyo. The path is paved and is divided into two sections: one for pedestrians and another for cyclers. You will find, however, that many pedestrians opt to walk the cycling path. The route ends at Lake Tama, where you can choose to continue your biking adventure on the Tamako Cycling Road.

Sections of the Tamako Bike Path have beautiful cherry blossom trees that form a tunnel of pale pink. Some parts also extend to small parks where you will find more sakura. There are plenty of benches along the way so you can stop and take in the view. The path also covers several Seibu Shinjuku Line stops, giving you a lot of restaurant and cafe options when you get hungry.

How to Get to Tamako Bike Path

The Tamako Bike Path runs along several Seibu Shinjuku Line stations. The starting point is accessible via Tanashi Station but is around 7 minutes away by bike. If you want to skip the starting point and access a station close to the path, Hanakoganei would be a better option.

Alternatively, you can ride the JR Chuo Line and get off at Musashisakai Station. The starting point is a 7-minute bike ride from there.
