If your Mt. Fuji itinerary includes the stunning Mt. Fuji, then you’re in luck. There are plenty of Mt. Fuji tours from Tokyo that take you to the mountain and/or the best viewing spots. But browsing through pages and pages of tours that more or less look the same can be a drag. That’s why I’ve developed this guide to help you choose the best one for you.

TOUR SUMMARY
Departure Point: Shinjuku

- You get to be on Mt. Fuji. The 5th Station is halfway through the mountain and is the entry point for climbing Mt. Fuji
- Experience two of the most coveted rides in Hakone—the Hakone Ropeway and the Lake Ashi Cruise.
- Get the rare experience of seeing volcanic activity up close at Owakudani. It will make you feel like you’re on a different planet.
CONS
- This tour is more Hakone-focused than it is Mt. Fuji.
- Views of Mt.Fuji are not as stunning as the ones you see around Lake Kawaguchi
- Lunch is not as appealing as other tours.

- The tour spends an hour and 20 minutes at Gotemba Premium Outlets, which is a plus if you like shopping, but a bore if you’d rather sightsee than be in a mall.

- Hakone Shrine is a very popular photo spot but most Mt. Fuji tours do not go here.
- Aside from Hakone Shrine, all the other destinations are not as crowded.
- Enjoy an exhilarating cable car ride to the top of Mt. Omuro.
- Cross a suspension bridge at the gorgeous Jogasaki Coast
CONS
- While you will be able to see Mt. Fuji in the spots you visit, they are not the best viewing spots for Mt. Fuji.
- Lunch is not included. You can bring your own or dine on-site.
- The queue to take a photo under the torii gates of Hakone Shrine may be long. Being able to take a photo within the time allotted is not guaranteed.
